Integrated Microwave Assemblies
Spectrum Control designs and manufactures standard and custom integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) and subsystems for commercial and defense applications. Our multi-disciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams develop and build a wide range of integrated products from chips to fully integrated signal acquisition and processing modules.
Applications supported include MILCOMM, Radar, electronic warfare, navigation and much more.
Products and Capabilities
Spectrum Control has been a leading provider of integrated microwave assemblies for more than 40 years. Today we are continuing that leadership by employing new technologies that increase performance, shrink footprints, reduce integration complexity and improve manufacturability.
At the heart of our new IMA capabilities is an embedded digital gateway that can be deployed as a common building block in the design and/or as part of the test infrastructure for digitization.
Here are some of the wide variety of custom IMAs we have developed for customers.
- Upconverters and downconverters
- Block converters
- Configurable pre-filtered GPS Low Noise Amplifier (LNA)
- RF filter banks: switched- and configurable switched banks
- Tx/Rx modules , dual- and quad-band
- Active Phased Array Radar (APAR) and Multi-Function Radar (MFR)
Let's talk about your requirements
We have a long history of designing and building custom microwave assemblies to meet the exacting needs of our customers. We can apply our component knowledge with our vast IMA experience and apply new design and manufacturing methodologies to meet your SWoP-C requirements.
This process starts with understanding the problems you are trying to address, whether it is signal acquisition and conditioning or how to adapt a multi-function block to to a new form factor or environmental challenge.

The Spectrum Control IMA Difference
By using our own filter, amplifier and mixer technology we maintain tight control over critical performance parameters for exceptional amplitude and gain flatness
We commonly integrate digital functionality into our IMAs to enable software-based control (band selection, signal routing, tuning), monitoring, and easy integration into the larger system.
Amplitude- and phase-matching are critical elements of our up/down converter designs, especially valuable in direction-finding applications.
Using an analog or digital control voltage, these designs are offered with a wide variety of interfaces to support management of both gain and signal strength.
RF input protection is commonly employed using limiting circuits comprised of high barrier diodes for either moderate- or high-power interferers.
Reverse- and overdrive-protection, plus DC Power conditioning, are used to prevent and maintain adequate supply power isolation.
Active and passive temperature compensation is an integral part of our designs to support rugged military environments
